If your mpc does NOT have the zip drive installed, then yes, you WILL need to do the rewiring.

Thanks...I should be ableto get an extra power cord for the pc from a radio shack or smething right?

Power Cable:

I wired the floppy power to the cf reader power, Red/Black cables. The cf reader power connector is a standard IDE hard drive power connector called "Molex", in case you go to Radio Shack asking.

Data Cable:

Ask Radio Shack to give you a standard regular ole 40 pin PC hard drive ribbon cable, that will connect to the mentioned atapi cf drive and then to your 2kxl motherboard for data.

For the record, I have that SAME cf drive.. I went from floppy to zip to cf, I've done what you are about to do.
