I just got my MPC a couple days ago. . . I don't know the freakin' diff. between ram mem. and a hard drive space. I mean . . . do I need to upgrade my ram if I bought a 100 GB hard drive? What is ram for? I know it stores , but can I do without it?

Ram is temporary memory.. it gives you more sample time, when you example load samples from your hard drive.. you can deal with 128 mb with samples in your project instead of 16 (standard)..the data in your RAM stick will be deleted after you turn off the mpc.. but you'll have more space to work.. so i suggest you buy some memory, it's worth it ;)

mm this should work: Akai EXM128 128MB ..

but i heard that there's lot of other RAMs that you can use, used for laptop computer.. so they work in mpc and it's very easy to install
