Got my 60 Beiyitches! Couple questions...

60mkII with memory upgrade no SCSI os 2.12 for $300! Got the OS upgrade from ebay for $129. All I need now is SCSI. It was dirty but it cleaned up really well. Still ugly as two f**ks but I don't care!

Questions:

1. I did a thorough cleaning inside and out, including the pads and pad contact, but the pads still double trigger when i hit 'em hard. Is that normal or do I need to clean em better? Yes I searched, and yes I read the 60 faq/bible and yes I followed all the advice I found here.

2. Mine has a crack in the back of the case because the shipper is a numbnut. Anybody know where I can get the plastic housing replaced or even IF I can find a replacement??? I thought about returning it but I can live with it since you can't see it and I got a good deal and it works perfectly.

3. I'm using this with an ASR X. Is there any way I can trigger the X from the 60's pads without also triggering the internal samples on the 60? I tried setting the track to MIDI but then I couldn't trigger the X from the 60.

4. I synced Logic to the 60 via MIDI clock and when I hit play Logic starts playing but it doesn't loop when the 60 loops and it doesn't loop if I have Logic set to loop. Is that normal?

5. Also when the 60 is the sync master, Logic's transport fluctuates, like if I set the tempo on the 60 to 83, Logic will show a tempo of anywhere from 82.8800 up to 83. Is that normal?

6. I wanna paint that hoe. Shouldn't be too much trouble except for the lettering. Anybody have any ideas on how to do the front panel lettering?

7. Some of the buttons are very stiff. Will cleaning the contacts help or do I have to break out the soldering iron?

oh yeah, im rockin the asr-x with the 60 and you can trigger the x minus the internal sounds.......press midi and i think its "soft thru" or something like that.........it is in the back of the manual in the FAQ's section....

my mpc 60 double triggers when i hit them hard, but i think u might be able to turn that off? I would like to turn it off but i dont know how... =\

Double triggering is probably due to your technique.

When hitting the pads hard, your finger may be bouncing off the pad after the initial hit, and then it causes a second hit after the bounce.

I'll try to switch up the technique. I never had that problem with the MPD-16 though

if you got your os from instrument techs .. on ebay your in good hands .. i just received mine from him yesterday ... seems someone has an eprom burner ..take care socketing the new chips ..
with the new os its easy to play noites without the drums playing .. so on that just wait .. the case .. maybe instrumentechs or forat ..

Good looks. I did get the OS from instrumentechs, and I already put it in. all I need now is the SCSI, a backlight and some new button triggers for the stiff ones.

i used to double trigger notes as well, like the fulla up top said its prolly your technique.
