1000 or 2500 for sampled music only

I know there were some topics like this one, but none were any value to me. Let me explain why..

I dont know which MPC to get, i never had one. I was always using software to make music.

I make rap beats, sampled beats mostly (thats what i love), i dont plan to plug any keyboards etc to MPC, or any other hardware in the future.. I just want good MPC to make sampled beats.
I've read that 2500 got more features like chop shop etc, and got better pads, but i dont know if thats worth 700-800 bucks more..

So what more 2500 have to offer in comparission to 1000 in terms of sampling (chopping samples, sequencing them etc)??

software wise, the official akai released os's make the 2500 better than the 1000.

however, the jenius os for the mpc1000 is more powerful software than that which is currently loaded by akai into the 2500.

hardware stays the same either way.

if you're making sampled beats and are not afraid of getting to know the inside of your mpc (you'd have to mod the pads if you want to use it for years) get the 1000. also, if you're looking for portability, the 1000 is definitely more portable than the 2500.

if you dont want to have to change anything, get the 2500 and keep your eye out for when the full jenius os gets adapted for the 2500 (not just the current beta).

i use the 1000 and i'm pleased. akai would have to pull an ace out of its sleeve to make me want to lose it in favor of the 2500.

If all your doing is sampling into the mpc and arranging the sample, it doesn't make a difference. imo all these advanced chopping features are OD. The only thing that would make me choose a 2500 over my 1000 is the optional built in cd recorder.

Get the 1000, and use the cash you saved by not purchasing the 2500 to get you some vinyl, or something like that.

Unless you want to burn cd's within the unit I say get a 1000. I love my 2500 though

those damn pads are the thing that is bugging me the most.. i dont really want to 'fix' pads in 1000, im afraid i could **** everything up.. are pads only thing (cd/dvd-rom isnt making any real difference to me) thats different? is it worth additional 700 bucks?

you won't **** everything up. i went into the pad problem not knowing anything about electronics and i didn't **** anything up.

16 interlink pads cost 10 dollars each. that's 160 dollars. the other 540 dollars are paying for the patent/legacy. paying for said pads is IMO so not worth an additional 700 bucks that it borders on lunacy.

I hate the pads on the MPC1000 IMO. Thats why I sold it and im bout to get the 2500(the 2500 alone gives me inspiration just looking @ it).

im having the same problem

i dont want to spend the extra money unless its totally necessary
but the sounds of it.. the 1k might be trouble down the road

plus i dont have much need for all the additional midi stuff.. dont plan on adding keyboards untill i become an mpc master and need to expand

is the OS the same?
