Go here and check this out. I don't know if you would be able to do it yourself but, this is what you would need to do to install and internal HD.

Personally I have a external HD that I got out of an old MAC I had laying around then just purchased a case for like $10.

Exactly, Motherboard modification but that would be costly if done right and if done wrong - you'll be sorry.

I'm not too sure but, I'm almost positive(could be wrong) that I had this discussion with mpc3000 a long time ago maybe 2 - 3 years and he never mentioned motherboard mod. Now I believe and once again I could be wrong that you would have to replace the floppy on the 2000 with a HD or something along these lines. I know it was CRAZY hard though because, this conversation is what led me to get the external HD instead of totally destroying my 2000 trying to put a HD inside of it.

And the reason I even say this is because, you can and I know someone who had it done at Forat for something like $300 have a internal zip put in your 2000 now the thing with this is that the zip is a IDE(maybe not though, I don't know really) but, if it is then that would mean that the floppy in a 2000 is SCSI or would it MPC3000 would know much better than I would. I'm not trying to mess with anything but, the memory and the keypads and maybe inserting some cards inside my 2000.

Yeah maybe it was something like that. I know whatever it was he told me it was completely beyond someone who doesn't know the machine in and out. So basically I ended up just getting the external HD.
