unrealistic stuff for the 1k?

Although this is for now only for those who are highly trained in cutting edge MIDI processing technology, I believe it could be incorporated into more exotic future MPCs.

I have 2 hopes for a future JJ os...

1. a pop-out ash tray would be nice.

2. Mind recognition... so I can just think beats... that would really streamline my work flow.

Ok here's what I'd like to see in my dream MPC.

1.) Detachable mini keyboard

2.) Full fledge sampler/synth engine.

3.) Vga support

4.) Bigger LCD screen with a brighter backlight and flip screen.

5.) Video output for external monitor

6.) Driver support for external 8x8 MIDI interface

7.) CD DVD/RW drive

8.) Support for 200GB or larger hard drive.

9.) More assignable controllers

10.) Full and complete MIDI implementation

11.) Hard disk recording & track editing like on the fantom X

12.) 2 Firewire (host & slave) and 2 USB (host & slave) ports


Although the MPC 1000 will never see these features, if you do make a MPC 5000 Akai, Please make it like this!!!!!!!

another vote here for synth capability - this would be great

class-compliant midi over USB

some form of prompt-to-save that triggers AFTER you have hit the power off button

^^^ instead of this, just an auto save that saves every however many (user specified) minutes. To be used for recovery in case of a power failure, or if you acidentally pull the power lead out the back (like I have). This actually isn't so far fetch and could probably be fairly well implemented.

it would be cool to have the sequencer playback pitch using your idea for the scrachting datawheel, manipulate your whole mpc like a turntable. i doubt it would be too difficult, not much more than a digital delay algorithm.

^^^ Yo man thats heaps different to a digital delay algorithm. However, now that we can realtime pitchshift the input, it should be possible by means of using this.

i would suggest trying to steer away from using the data wheel for any purpose other than a "mouse" selection type tool, as it's pretty fragile and scratching motions could wear it down REALLY fast.

yeah it was supposed to be unrealistic.

that's why i felt free to ask for 'real analog filters' as well obviously not possible.



on the other hand.... i am practically putting money aside for the first company that makes an mpc/cdj hybrid:: basically a sampler with a built -in vinyl simulation wheel, where you could 'scratch' realistically on any sample, as well as playing the samples back mpc style or chromatically (and scratch at different pitches using a '16 levels' type idea.)

As a matter of fact, there a sampler that exist which consists of CD DJ-like scratching features.......The Roland DJ70. Although it's a small compact keyboard sampler with a scratch pad that has been long discontinued, I'd like to see this scratching idea implemented in an MPC myself. Marvalous idea!!!!
