Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By jbplaya Fri Nov 24, 2006 12:15 pm
Anybody ever changed a power switch on a 2000 2kxl? Mines broke and I wanna know how easy or hard it is to do this. I contacted VST and the part is pretty cheap, but they recommend I send it in. I'm pretty handy though, I've just never done this operation on an MPC before though, and haven't seen it posted on the forums on how to do it.

Can your mpc still power on? If so then u are saying u have to stick your hand in the hole to turn it on or stick something in the hole to turn it on. If so i'd let it b cause the majority even mines is like that. But if u still want to replace it then its an easy fix. Real simple.

Nah, button's there and everything. I just got to tape it down for it to stay on and just flip it on and off with an external power strip. It's a very clean 2k and I just like all my sh*t to be in perfect working order. I don't like ghetto-riggin my stuff. It may be an easy fix, but does anyone here know how to actually do it or have done it before? I want to know for sure how to do it before I order the part from VST and crack her open.

If it's the same type as the 2k then you will need a special push switch, which has 2 separate live & two grounds in one switch & it's hard to find too...

VST says they sell the power switches for $15. I would think all that is necessary would be in the thing they're going to send. No? Does it require any soldering? I can't believe out of all the MP's with power switches, no one's changed one before :? .
