What should I purchase first?MPC, Keyboard, Etc.?

Right now I'm making beats in Garageband, using my freaking typing keyboard as my keyboard. I sample a lot. Garageband does not let me sample "on the fly" so I am doing a lot of work, chopping samples and alligning them with my mouse. I don't even have turntalbes, I'm sampling from MP3.

I just got a job so what do you think my first purchase should be?

If so then go for an mpc(any one will do its up to what you need out of it). You sound like u mainly sample so getting an actual keyboard with sounds on it would be up to you.

Yes see this is my problem. I really do need a midi keyboard, but I'm trying to leave software sounds.

I'm getting tables for Christmas, so I think if I just have my MPC, and talbes, do you think it could work for a little bit of time?

maybe a better question would be, would the drum sounds on the MPC do good? I can't say I sample every sound on the drums, just Kick, Snare type thing.

MPC's doesnt come with sounds.But if you wanna be sample based,then the MPC is the best choise.

I want to be the backbone of my beats to be samples no doubt, but I still want to be able to compose aspects of the beat.

I'm probably going to get the MPC, and then just have a midi controller to Garageband.


The sounds on Garageband will work for what I'm doing, wich is mainly, just Piano,guitar, bass, and percussion.

Go for any synth/workstation, with a sampling feature. It seems that you want to be able to sample, and have quality sounds at hand. Also, if you want, you'll be able to add an MPC to your setup in the future.

Then it looks like you've answered your own question.

I would say get one, and a sound module rack.You will be able to chop samples and sequence synth sounds at the same time. I just got the korg trinity rack and a midi controller and I'm able to sequence 16 synth tracks at once. pretty dope.

Man, get a korg triton studio. Loads of tight sounds, and you wont really have to upgrade. The pk 6 is sorry, but a proteus 2000 full of expanded will suffice, but dat triton will keep your tracks banging. Its worth every penny.

Naw partna. Any keyboard is sorry if the person behind it dont have no talent. I own it and I love it. Works great and gets the job done. Just cause one gets an Triton, Motif, or Fantom doesnt mean they gonna push heat. But um I think u know that. Or do you?

Yea i had the pk, the only good preset on there is swing hop 1, they just took the same sounds on most of the presets, and keep remaking them like Dance ,and widedance, and lol, what kind of preset is new aging, it sounds bad

Those are all Kits u named. I primarly create my own sounds on it or use the Strings/Brass sounds on it. Along with the Basses. But to each its own i get use out of it and u didnt so it be. What u use now?

Yo I use the triton now, I wasted 300 benjamins on that pk, and I dont reccomend it for even a beginner. Why dont you post some joints you did on the pk. more than likely, you've probably been using preset section 1, and that street bass preset. I throw down on the triton. LOL you really hate it dont you?! Well so be it whatever helps u helps u and whatever helps me helps me. You recommended an proteus2000 and some of the sounds on the proteus 2000 are on the pk-6(its the key version). But oh well do you partna. Back to basics.
