Has anyone experienced a click in the beginning of some samples after upgrading to JJ OS 4.XX?

Some of my samples has gotten a very distinct click sound at the start of them, a sound that wasn´t there in OS 2.1.
It is easy to adjust by adding a very small amount of attack in the program or adjusting the start point of the sample.

What intrigues me is where this problem derive from, as it´s not occuring on every sample there might to be some diference between the Akai and JJ OS´s in how tight they handle the raw audio data of the sample.
Is there anyone here who holds any knowledge or speculations on this?

The JJ OS seems (after some minor tests) to be looping samples as unreliable as the Akai OS, so no changes seem to be made there.

EDIT: To clarify, it does not seem as something is added, but that the start point is slightly moved making the sample start at a no zero, or other clicky place. Or getting part of a click or noise that previously was considered before the start point.

here's why.

in 2.1, there was an AUTOMATIC ATTACK applied to all your chopped samples so that they wouldn't click.

this sucked. why the hell should it always attack?

jj got rid of that. now you have no auto attack. this results in a click if you don't chop at a zero mark.

4. [VOICE ATTACK]
Rising of an attack is slow.

Thank you for informing.

proper cutting is important

but some producers even use this click to get a punchy attack on their synth basses...

Well, my, albeit minor tests, seemed to behave pretty much the same as the old OS. That is giving somewhat different looppoints according to a random cycle interval. Fluctuatuions in deciding on which sample to loop on.

This was the first and probably most disappointing problem I encountered on the MPC 1000. Check an old thread for details: http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=37177

Yes I know, I´ve always put much effort in keeping my editing clean. That is why I was surprised over the sudden clicks.
It´s interesting that this old generic attack has not only been present when samples were in programs, but affected the raw samples in TRIM mode as well.

Not to mention the majority of drum and percussive noises in Glitch, Click n´ Cuts and most of the modern "undergound" or "alternative" (ha!) electronica.
One of the trendiest and most overused moves of latter day musicmaking.

That would surprise me too.
