MPC, MC909 and Cubase SX

I got a problem,
My Partner has a MC909 an syncs to Cubase on a laptop.
He's selling his 909 an most of his songs are arranges in Cubase using the 909 as a external sound device only(not using the sequencer on the 909 only the sounds)
He wants to load the samples from the 909 into a MPC 4K, and have Cubase trigger the samples from a prearranged Sequence that has been completed.
Now I loaded each set of samples into separate Programs, assigned the midi channel in each program and set up sync to midi in I.
When I hit play on Cubase, I don't hear anything.
Is there a way to use the 4k as a external sound device?

Also,
The 4k don't have a D# on its pads, or in a piano roll. Why Anybody know?

Wouldn't it be easier to record the output from the 909 on some new tracks in Cubase? Then you''l have the whole song on the computer and you could sell the 909.

Yes, but we are trying to use Cubase's midi features. It very intense when it comes to midi manipulation. We basically want to use the 4k like the 909, and edit the midi in cubase. Its much more flexible when doing a mix.
So we are saving the 909 sounds, as samples in the 4k. This way when we load up the old 909 waves, and still use cubase.
I know it sounds like alot of work, but he wants to use the 4000 to do basic sequencing, then move it into cubase for the final mix.

should be able to route MIDI IN to INTERNAL MODULE A or B and the 4k will trigger.

i did so by creating a DRUM program and assigning samples to each of the pad banks.

from there i've triggered tones from my K2000 as a MASTER. you should have the same luck from a hardware perspective, but i have no idea with CUBASE in the mix.
