drum layering on pads

I was just wondering if somone could explain how to assign more than one
drum hit to a single pad on the 2000xl . Respect to anyone that can answer this

you can only assign one sound to a single pad.

you can, however, have a sound on one pad, and also have that pad trigger two other pads with different sounds, resulting in 3 sounds being triggered at once. search your manual for "simult".

my xl is boxed up so i can't tell you specifics, but go into program mode, click on F1 to make sure you're in the assign screen, and then you have move the cursor to the play field i think? it's on the bottom left corner of the screen. it's defaulted to "OFF", but if you turn the wheel to the right, it changes to "SIMULT", and you'll see two new cursor positions where you can assign which pads you want the current pad to trigger. they're defaulted to "OFF" as well, but if you turn the wheel to the right, you can choose pads to assign.

Check page 119 of you manual it explains in detail what Mike just said.

Thank's Mike well now that were on the topic do you guy's for your drum pattern's just use one kick and one snare and eq those hit's or do you layer.
Please share your techniques

yo dog, its all about layering, use a fat bass heavy kick that you like and a short punch style kick and play them in the same kick pattern. try the same for the snares, ei...dirty snare and hand clap. Give them a full sound. Maybe even try 3 or 4 layers.

Thanks for responding showbot So your saying you layer by adding different kicks or snares on top of an already existing drum pattern. One track for kicks one for snares. Sounds cool im a try this what about accuracy how do you know their hitting all at the same time.

Use the quantize, I use the 1/16note setting. Then I have both kicks I want to use assigned next to each other and just record both pads at the same time.
