I wanna open it up because the guy who sold me the unit says it has a memory upgrade, but the display doesn't indicate that. I read that the memory chips sometimes become loose and need to be pushed back in place.

yes, open up the bottom of the S950, where you will see a plate held in by 6 or 7 screws(i see places for 7 screws but mine seems to be missing one screw) when you get that metal plate off and out of the way look inside and you should see 2 places to plug in memory expansion boards! also look around inside the S950 too, if the memory came loose and popped out of their socket then they might be wedged in a corner or somewhere else inside the machine!
That is what happened to me with my S950 that i recently bought off of Ebay! it was shipped to me showing only "512K words" installed which is the stock memory without any upgrade! so i ordered a couple memory expansion boards from SOUNDLOGIC.... after driving down there to SOUNDLOGIC and buying the memory, i came home and was set to install the boards and max out the memory of my new S950.... when i flipped the S950 over to open it up from the bottom i heard something rattling around inside! then when i got it opened up, wouldnt you know it that right there next to sockets was a already memory board that had came loose and was just chillin waitin to be reinstalled!!! also there was a second memory board hiding towards the front of the machine wedged in between some other circuitboards and a corner! this second chip kinda blended in and look as if it were some part of the machine installed in that area! it took me a few minutes to realize that it was a second memory board wedged in that corner so good that it didnt budge much at all to the touch!!! after VERY CAREFULLY unwedging that second board from its hiding spot, i installed the second memory and fired the machine up and found out that both of the chips that i found lost inside the machine worked fine, nothing wrong with them other than just coming out of their sockets!!! so now ive got 2 brand new memory expansion boards for the S950 that i dont really need!!! i should have opened the machine up and peeked inside before purchasing new memory boards, it woulda saved me a lot of time and money!!!
if anyone needs memory boards for the S950, hit me up i have 2 brand new ones that i will let go for $150, the same price i paid for them! they are also available from SOUNDLOGIC(info @ RAMONA.COM) but they will probably charge more than the $75 bucks a piece that im asking!(i think i was charged a discounted price for these since i bought such a large order from them!!!)
