Help im having some confusion with DIRECT RECORD

hi there basically i found the section on direct record on the MAIN screen and i have been basically been jammin to the beat i made get ready to record i start record keep do all of that and at the end of that it hasnt recorded ONTO the beat i thought that was the whole point of direct record i want to be able to recored my bass lines etc from an external source onto the track live is it possible please help

yea there is an option that asks if you want to add it to a pad and then it gives you another option if you want to record the events...something like that....i have the jj os in right now so i can't check wut it actually says....but after you have recorded, just mess with those options
