Best way to loop

I am used to cpu production so this question is extremely novice to mpc users. On the 1000 what is the best way to get the bpm of the loop i have already cut. Do i have to lay down hats/snares/ ect and manually play them, until they line up, or is there a way to record it and adjust afterwards.

I tried a slow bpm (50) jsut to record the loop, then adjust the bpm higher, but it keeps the pause b/t the bars and cuts the loop short?

Can someone break it down for me?

play the hats, snares, kick, etc...manually and find the bpm to get that loop right! or u can use the tap tempo button! 50 bpm what kind of music u tryin to produce?

haha -- i was using 50 bpm w/o the beat, so the bars were long enough to fit the whole sample, then i thought if i sped it up i could get the bpm right, but it looks like the best way is to lay down a drum beat then rock the samples over it.

Is there not an easier way? its been a few years so maybe i'm dreaming, but im sure there was a function on the mpc2000 that tells you the bpm and number of bars to fit your sample into a loop, anyone know?

There was a thread on calculating BPM on the MPC1000 a few weeks ago, I threw in a bit' o' math too, so you can convert between samples, beats and seconds.

But there's no neat function to give you the BPM of a loop.
Personally, I reserve the right to change the tempo as I feel like, which means I rarely use rhythmic loops straight from CD...
