What kind of wires do I need to hook up NS-10's to a Mbox 2?

sorry if this a dumb question, but the NS-10's and Mbox 2 have different types of "connections" (or whatever you call it). i believe these are the older style NS-10's, they have red and black screw-off caps on the metal connectors and the mbox has 1/4 inch plug connection. needless to say, im very new to all this. is there a type of wire or adapter that can connect these two things together?

You definitely have to get a power amplifier. The amplifier sends power to your NS-10's-somewhat the same as using a receiver with home speakers.
Without a power source your speakers are useless. Just as v00d00ppl stated, "regular speaker wire and a pair of 1/4 cables is all you need to connect everything."

Yeah, its: 2 1/4 inch cables out of the main outputs of the Mbox, into the amplifier left and right. Then out of the amplifier with speaker cableto the left and right speakers.

Make sure it's diesel enough speaker wire, not the kind for your Aiwa home stereo. Also, make sure whatever amp you get is the same exact ohm rating (I think 8ohms for the yamis, but check the speakers) as your yamahas.

these are the specs for the 10s M STUDIO model, so if that's not yours, do some more homework :

The OHMS are the most important thing. You can use an over-powered amp as far as the WATTS are concerned, as long as you don't crank too hard. I would get a 150 Watt (per channel) 8 OHM amplifier.

and with NS10s, you definitely want to overpower them a bit, they sound better that way.
