Hi,
I use only the mpc2kxl and I would to know how to make pads and/or deep atmospheres in my sound. I'd tried a lot of different technic but nothing works, and in the manual there isn't a way of solution it. I've the EB16 effects card and I know that it's possible to do good pads with the mpc. I try to loop the sample and play with the attack and decay parameters, but it doesn't work really good.
Can you help me, please!
Thanks!!

Eponim.

filtering and stacking sounds/layering helps. Take a nice groove and filter it with the lo pass and then you should have a sort of lush low end sample. Layer that with a copy of the regular uneffected sample. Try stacking like instruments though on top. say a rhodes sampling lay a synth pad with it to make it sound more rich and full. and you said you have the effects card, try a little delay on some samples to make them sound more stoney and spacy.

If you only use an MPC where are you getting your pad sounds from?

Maybe you should get a sample cd just of these type of sounds so you have good source material to start with, then do your layering with those. These kind of sounds work best as really long samples rather than loops.

Good tips from binger0. Being that the mpc isnt a full blown sampler, it has its limits, but you can mangle things up a bit, and the eb16 helps a lot too. Another good technique is pitchings various sounds way down so that they sound completely different and also will play longer. This usually also requires filtering and layering (wish it had hi-pass). If you are able to set a loop point for the sample, you should be able to play it more like a synth when you set it to 16 levels with tuning. Then the attack and decay will have more effect. Don't forget about that filter envelope.

Be sure to just try everything on a multi effect channel. The 2 mid filter bands have a modulating parameter that can make the sound pulse. A thick reverb always helps too.

why not fill the mpc with deep atmosphereic samples, i think that would be a great start, albino vst is nice for atmos. the mpc is merely a canvas for you to display your brialliant colours of sound upon.
