Can you elaborate on this a little bit? I'm trying to trigger as ASR X and a Proteus module with the pads on my 60II. I have no problems playing thru the 60II to the external gear using an external midi controller. However, I can't get the pads on the 60II to trigger any external gear. I've tried all of the logical settings that I can think of, but nothing is working. I am using OS 2.14 if that helps anyone answer my question.

I used to have a 2000xl and I had no problem doing this.

mm.. thats strange.. I can trigger anything I want! Are all the devices on the same MIDI channel? (1-16)

Thx! I defenitly have the same problem. If I move the MPC I hear some rattling inside, I thought it was a loose screw..

But if there's a big chance I can broke my unit, Im not going to fix it for now. Ill just wait untill I got the money to buy a second MPC60/ 3000

It's not a big chance if you don't go poking around in there with the power on. If you just take out the board and do the fix then put it back there is little chance. Be mindful of static and all that.

I'd open it up just to check what it rattling, but this fix is pretty easy, all it takes is some electrical tape and a soldering iron.

I tried one of those and it didn't work.

It could have been damaged in transit or something, but that's why I started poking around on the inverter board.

You tried one from backlights? Daaam you know every place on the web to buy parts elmacaco?
Did you tried the backlights they sell? Cuz i need one bad for my 60.

Reason i ask is because Akai Belgium dous not exist anymore and i will have to send it to Holland. They do all repairs for Akai in the BeNeLux.
But it takes way to long to do that (Last time with my 3000 about 4 months)
I know a good tech in my city so i might just order one of them.

Yup, I know most places that sell 60 stuff.

Again, I don't know if mine was damaged, but when I installed it the backlight was totally OFF, and I didn't want to take chances so I put the old one back in.

It was smaller and looked a little different.

The Best place to get backlights IMO is www.midi-rakete.de

They are in Germany and offer a bunch of colors. I chose white because it makes the screen clearer. It is a different backlight for a MK I and a MK II so be sure to specify. I bought a bunch of backlights from him and from backlights.co.uk, and the latter ones I had to trim the laminate on it to get it to fit, the delivery time was longer, yada yada.

I even got one for my emax from Midi-rakete, he had never done one before so in exchange for the dimentions he gave me a discount becuse it added to his catalog.

Being in Belgium, Germany seems like a logical choice.

If you want to see the difference between a blue and a white backlight for a 60 mk I, go to the MPC 60 Yahoo group photos page. I uploaded some pics. But he has other colors too.

Ikke, I would go ahead and try the fix I posted, it isn't hard if you know how to desolder, and all you have to desolder is a metal shield housing, which isn't a sensative componant. The rest is tape work and connectors.

Now, I have one more question. The pads on the MPC send note off, but the MPC cant recognize note off.. But is it in any way possible to trigger the samples in the MPC with note off with the pads? I can edit the duration in the step edit, but it dont affect the samples in the MPC60..
