monitoring record ins while in play mode ????????????

hey whats up xl'ers.....
i just purchased my first mpc (2000xl)
and am wondering is there anyway to listen to something in play mode
(or even just be in the main screen area listening to samples on my pads)
and be able to hear my turntables (which are connected to the l/r record
ins) say like audition some possible scratches ????
& i do have the ib-m208p if that helps anything
it did not come w/a manual but i've combed threw one online
and can find nothing stating heres how or i diffenitly can't

2k/2kxl can ONLY monitor line-ins in SAMPLE mode.
