Hey, Woodbeatz!!!!

The JJ OS is a hacked Os from the MPC 1000. Lots of functions are similar,
so this guy adapted it to fit into the 2500 in a way....
Not all of the original Akai functionality of the 2500 works in the JJ OS, but
the major bugs of the original Akai OS are fixed.
Of course, threre are obviously bugs in the JJ OS, but in my opinion they´re not that
bad than the issues in the original (1,22) OS from Akai.
So its worth trying the JJ OS.....the workflow is far better for me in the JJ one.
And i ya need the functionality of the other OS you can swap quite easily....

woodbeatz,

There are no major bugs in the Akai 1.22 OS. I would use that OS. That is the OS I use everyday. Now if you experience any issues (real/perceived) I would return to the forums and search for a solution or create a thread asking for help.

Now if you want to try and use the JJ OS, it is not officially endorsed by Akai, so use it at your own risk. It does add some functions that are slightly better than the Akai OS, but you also lose some functions that are presently in the Akai OS. The JJ OS is a beta and is not complete. A reported completed version will be released next month for a $30 fee.

Hi Jahrome !!!

In my opinion, the often discussed "Save"/"Corrupted File" and "Directory Error" Issues
ARE SERIOUS BUGS in the Akai 1.22 OS.
These are basic functions of this machine and they definitively do not work properly,
this is not acceptable. Thats why I think WE HAVE SOME MAJOR BUGS IN THIS OS !!!!!
Even for Woodbeatz, i think he must be able to save his work without hazzle at least.....

I'd get some new glasses and a hair cut first, son. Just try it, you can always go back and forth. There is nothing to be made in the jj os to hurt your mpc. I doubt anyone can make viruses for mpcs except Akai and JJ. Despite what anyone says, it won't hurt your mpc. It's code that can be chaged back to the official akai os.

Here we go!..... Another long argument with jahrome. My advice, don't feed the troll.

Jahrome, quickly side steps the comments/insults directed at him....and promptly repeats..

I have to add that I have not lost a project with the current OS 1.22 nor have I corrupted any files. But the current JJ OS has crashed my MPC on more than one occassion, which is why I don't use it.

But it is up to you which OS you use. No one should pick a bone with you because you decided to go with a specific OS...well, these two clowns might....

The fact is some users see bugs in both OSs that other's don't. It's really a case of seeing which one works better for you. You can reload any OS whenever you like, so it's not like you're stuck with the one you choose first.

One bit of advice I would give, once you've chosen which one you're going to stick with (at least for the length of a few projects), is to reformat the hard drive after loading your chosen OS.

alien brain, didn't I tell you that I like women? Dude, I am not interested in you.

Anyway, I see you saved up to buy that MPC 2500. I guess seeing it in that new Nas video got you motivated. Congrats man! Nice come up.

lets just hope Akai's new OS will come out soon...It's been awhile so hopefully they are waiting for this one to be almost bug free before they release it.

i agree with you, add to that the MTC not working like it should. its pretty serious, and i don't understand someone saying it's ok like that.

JJ's OS will not break the MPC, MTC will work right, and i haven't experienced any problems with corruption like i did with the Akai OS. However, there are a few things that need to be made better.

As in all things, a merge of both OS would be the best way to move forward for Akai.

This is probably the most accurate statement.....

However, the JJ OS had my MPC crashing and I couldn't record a simple sequence let alone save a project. After going back and forth with installing both operating systems, my MPC started to work again. But I stayed with the Akai OS because 1) It works 2)My MPC never crashed 3) Fully operational CD-R functions 4)Its an Akai OS...you know..the people that actually created the MPC

i had the jj os installed for a few days and the entire time it was in I was always paranoid that it was somehow screwing up my mpc. i don't think it did any damage, but i wanted direct record back and creating a new program was screwed up for me...i would create a new program but samples from another program would appeared on it for some reason....the main reason why i ditched the jj os was cause i invested waaaaay too much for my MPC to be ruined by something that was not tested by akai...i'm jsut waiting for the new Akai OS :D
