Efx are ONLY available via the optional EB16. Stock standard 2kxl, no.

only fx i believe is a low pass filter and pan, u have to get the fx card seperate.
and i think it comes with 2mb, you need to install a simm card for 32mb

Same here. The 1000 is a beast but i dont like the pad issues. Bought a trigger finger and that helped but some features like 16 tune cant be done using the trigger finger without setting it up and that messes up my work flow sometimes.

I would suggest getting a 2500 , You will miss all of the 1000 features and the processing time on the 2500 is way faster. Also you can put a hard drive in it ! The 2000xl is cool but it is dated in terms of comparison to the 1000 and 2500 with the new os's out there.. Plus you have to buy additional 8 outs and effects card.. that's about 450 more if you find them on eBay. So you figure 7-800 for the MPC stock used on eBay ,and an additional 450 for the options to make it studio useable and there you have spent nearly 1300.00 when you can find 2500's on eBay new for around 1400.00 . The 2000xl is cool and if you can find it maxed out for a good price do it but you will miss the 1000 for features.
