aight main hard as it is to believe $30 is not easy money to come thru for all us... you talkin to a dude who kept the 16mb on the mpc1k for almost 2 years cuz he could never afford the extra flow for more memory... even if i had $30 to throw out like that... i dont' even have interenet at home much less a credit card to buy it...

so yeah i'm rocking the 1.07 O/S on my machine.. but i keep hearin and readin about all these other O/S's for the mpc 1000

i jus finished readin up on the akai 2.10 version..and its butter cuz it free.. but yall people on here clown it and basically make it seem like it aint' even worth it..plus it seem like it causes more problems like crashes and ish?

on the other side yall big up the jj os japanese one... cept it cost $30... is it any version of it thats free? i mean cuz it seems like the free one's don't let you save stuff? so gettin that would be pointless..

I mainly sample off this old record player i got so thats how go about my business. .. on my beatmakin...

what i'm lookin for would be this..

1. is it a way to audition sounds straight off, like now you have load it, play it.. then discard or keep it.. how does it work on the new O/S's.

2. if i got a sample thats like mad fast i want to slow it down, what is this action called and how does that work on the new O/S's? ex. i got sample at 120BPM and i want to bring it down to 90BPM...

3. whats is the difference between pitch shift and "TUNE" on the mpc1k?

so yeah on most basic level in laymans terms how exactly would the new OS's help me in my beatmaking....

thank you in advance for all the help and info!

n fo show once the time is right i aint' got a problem puttin $30 down for my mpc its jus that right now, it aint' a possibility or an option...

peace

hey, i'm gonna have to be running pretty soon so i can't answer everytrhing, but here's a link to os 3.06, jj's free one.

http://cgi.www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~mpc1000 ... me=MPC1000

it's a good os. the saving issues of akai's 2.1 os have been fixed, and there's a nice grid edit and global program edit.

install it, you'll love it. it'll suit you fine til you save some change and move up on the jj os. but meanwhile don't worry, the logner you wait the more you'll appreciate it cuz more features get added to the paid for os.

you can slow your turntable down?

just curious, how did you get a $1000 mpc?

one great thing about this machine is that you can edit samples on a computer and zap them over USB to the internal hard drive or memory card. i would suggest this route for pitch shifting or time stretching.

the jj os allows you to preview sounds on your media before loading.

i dont use pitch shift or tune, like i said i do my sample editing on the computer. look into it.

Listen to what NYM said..but you don't have internet?? Get one of your boys to download the free JJ OS (3.06) You can save with that one and it does not have the dreaded save bug that the Akai 2.10 OS has. If you don't have internet, how did you post that question??

nah man....$1000 for an mpc 1k? nah man unless you really rich or can jus afford it.. thats ridiculous....but you gotz to remember $1000 is what it costs like at guitar center or whatnot..i don't know about you main but don't nobody i know can shop or ever pay sticker price for gear.. or pretty much on anything.... I mean in chicago the closest GC is over on Halsted...thats a journey even not talkin buot they crazy prices...

but uh yeah i'ma jus say i got my mpc the same way i got that macbook pro i was sellin a while back... same way i *ahem* got my 2nd macbook pro...

I don't have a pc at home but i'm workin on gettin one...

the macbook is locked right now..but i got another dude workin on that for me.. cuz it has ableton live on it so i'm keepin this one..plus garageband..

but karma is a mother so i'm done wit all that... on the straight and narrow...

that link is down and this library closin early on saturday.. so im out..

check this again on monday

functionality, 2 nd delay etc, and free updates!! as jj s goin to
continue to work on it.... i must also say that the workflow on this os
is also much better.... depending on what u need, in all cases, its a fat

yo get that free joint now im not trying to down u but get a hustle ***** i piss $30 shoot i spend like $30 a day on food yo but look get that fee joint yo and just put a so change away or somethin and save up yo cuz its well worth the 30 but i understand that it may be hard time but yo u gota do what u gotta do for ur passion cuz once u spend that 30 u get updates out the @$$. now

(got a sample thats like mad fast i want to slow it down, what is this action called and how does that work on the new O/S's? ex. i got sample at 120BPM and i want to bring it down to 90BPM...)

all you do is assign it to a pad not makin beat is basicaly all numbers so u got a 120 bpm with pitch at 0 so every pitch down = like 10 bpm so pitch to -3 and u have a 90 bmp tempo .

(whats is the difference between pitch shift and "TUNE" on the mpc1k?)

pitch shift u will hear a dramatic change with tune say u take a drum loop and its a bit too fast for ur 90bpm seq then u tune it down about .10 or .20 and it will start to fit right

As Nym Said: Try the free OS 3.06. Although there are not all Features included (Like MMC & MTC, but who uses this anyway) it is still recommendable over AKAI's OS 2.1!
You know what: JJ wanted to give me a free serial when I finished the work I had done on the manual a few months ago but I had mine already so I didn't get back at em. But since it's Christmas pretty soon I would give this serial for the full version (4.15) as a gift to you buddy. But before I hook this up I would like to hear some of your beats...I don't give this to somebody who I think does not deserve it... nahmmean? Do you have a myspace spot or something similar? Because you said you ain't online on the regular...

So Bizzzla comes on these forums, boasting about how he's got a stolen MPC, MacBook, Zoom effects box and an Alesis Micron - presumably stolen from a musician who worked to earn money, paid for them himself, and now can't make music:
http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?p=509600#509600

Then Bizzzla starts complaining that he can't afford $30 to pay JJ, who has been working damn hard for all of us.

Then Bizzzla gets offered a free upgrade.

I'm speechless.

I agree.
stealing equipment is a f***ing NO GO !

Our band had a studio room,
a former friend of us invited some "strange guests" - into that studio
- he wanted them to mc on at one of our shows...

shortly after, we "traded" the room with a more rock-orientated band
for their smaller room and only a few days after the trade someone broke into our old room. They could have stolen really expensive Guitar Amps worth several thousand euros but all they took was their Mixer, some of their outboard effects and a crappy 4track tape recorder, for me meaning they were after our more Hip Hop-orientated equipment (Technics, Mixer, Interface, Mics).

We had damn luck...

but in the end, everybody gets what he deserves...
also equipment thieves...

I didn't read the post entirely... sh*t, I didn't thought sh*t might be stolen! Damn... I gotta read that whole thread over... If your accusation is reasonable, then of course I will NOT give out the Serial. PERIOD!
Well, Dizzla says in the other post that he 'got' stuff from some guy...sounds a lil suspicious to me too. Also he doesn't seem to know anything about production from the hard- and software he is talking about. All in all I tend NOT HAND OUT THE SERIAL to HIM, because he seems not to be too dedicated to music and for the accusations that haven't been cleared up yet!
