Has anyone sampled from Beastie Boys? I like their Open hats, real nice, if so which tracks did you find a clean open hat on, im ripping the licensce to ill to peaces but want to know what you guys have used to see if theres a better example. or if you could recomend a track to get a real nice old school break that I can use.

what you do is layer drums and eq them. Also add some compression. Alot of old breakbeats were recorded somewhat shitty so you have to do you own modifications and stack a few drums up to make them really punch for a more hip hop format.

cut those up into lil pieces and use them with vinyl or wav break beats.

as in chop the kick sample off the cd and place it over the top of an individual kick from a break or have a break as it is and chop the individual samples and place them on top in other words "play" over the top??
this layering of drums is an artform by the sounds of it

dude...... dont do that . just go to the main source, sample it from led zepplin thats where they got there samples from.
if you need the records get @ me i can sell you some.
