ok, so what you are saying is that it is OK for akai to half-ass an MPC OS just to keep putting out other MPC? you are saying it is NOT OK to complain about that?

that's a very american/modern consumer zombie way of thinking. i do not agree. the MPC works, but has a few flaws. There are workarounds of course. But just remind yourself that companies keep putting out **** products because we do not complain enough about the lack of forward thinking (short-term profit thinking has a negative impact on environment and society in general)

what we should do is form a structured consumer coalition that forces the prosumer companies to respect us, and keep the quality level above average. That will not happen because the majority of consumers are well-trained zombies.

First of all, I KNEW about the bugs when I bought my 2500. Thats why you dont hear me complain. I knew what they were and how to work around them if needed. If you have such a hard time dealing with it, sell your MPC! All I ever hear from you is bitching! Shut up about what your machine has trouble with and work with what it can do. Why did you buy the 2500 if you knew it had a buggy OS? Did you not research the unit before you bought it? If you didn't, its your fault for being a moron and not looking before you took the plunge. If you did, then you knew about the bugs and should have been prepared for them.
Everyone has complained to Akai about the OS bugs. They know whats wrong and I'm sure they are fixing them. We cant force them to hurry. What do you think people have been trying to do since the 2500 release? I know that the OS has problems but the difference between you and I are that I dont whine and **** on a forum hoping to change Akai.
If you dont want to support Akai's "short term profit thinking" dont buy another MPC and sell the one that you do have. I can't say that enough. You talked about "well-trained zombies" yet your lining their pockets. Just dont buy another MPC. Its very simple. The whole reason I wrote anything is becuase I'm tired of seeing the 2500 forum littered with people's bitching. Where do you think your bitching on this forum will get you? Go talk to an Akai rep.... or email Akai.
I dont think it's OK for Akai to release another MPC but I was showing YOU that you have other options and dont need to hang on to your 2500. In fact I hope you buy something else and will spare us all the crying.
rolandus.com
Theres the Roland website. Go check out the MV. Maybe that will make you happy.

For evryone asking about what I said in regards to the new MV and MPC..... I just heard what I posted from a reliable source. I dont know too much else in this regard. Nym, the color screen eas something that MV users were asking for. Why when they have the VGA, i don't know?

dude, you're more irritating than the mpc bugs.

i'm happy with the mpc2500 anyway, but i think that the bugs are really taking a long time to be fixed by akai.

Irritating? You are too insignificant to irritate me....but I really do enjoy pointing out how much you complain about your post-production drum machine. When will you get it through you thick skull that the OS will come when it comes...and if you actually knew anything about the drum machine that you rarely use anyway, you would know its not Americans who are doing the OS in the first place.

Anyway...

A new MPC and a new MV.....sookie sookie now.....let me get on the telephone to make a few calls. I will pick them both up...who wants to pre-order one for them

wait! are you guys telling me that my outlandish marketing idea may be true??? a new mpc in jan, more like the 4000? jeez... that's just silly... a new mpc before this one is fixed? come on... bitching or not... say what you will but that is just not right guys...

a company is suppose to support their current products, not forget about them while developing new ones... and if this is the route they wish to take, then i think they should at least support the standard updates ie mtc?

i love my mpc... black... black pads... new black grip knobs... i work on it often but that should not buy my opinion or my silence... what should buy my silence is 100% satisfaction or at least really really damn close to it... for me, i'm happy cause i don't use any of the features that everyone else has problems with and i kept the older OS...

everyone on this board is always quick to argue, yell, call names, put people down, on and on and on... why? it's so retarded how y'all treat each other on here... so what if someone has some gripes and those gripes pop up every so often... don't reply... it's a forum... not a communist camp where members are conditioned not to voice their opinions...

I feel you Shane but these gripes dont come up every now and then. This is an everyday thing. Yeah, it sucks that Akai is going to launch a new MPC with fixing the OS bugs on the 2500 or 4000. Not to defend what they are doing but Akai needs to answer Rolands advances. This is a market that they have dominated for a while and Roland stands to take a good piece of it with these new MV's. All I'm saying is I am tired of hearing people complain. Thats all that ever happens on this forum anymore. The 2500 forum has been cluttered with newbs and gripes for the last few months and people who really are trying to learn cant. We all know whats up as far as bugs go. Lets just leave that topic alone now. If you have gripe, tell an Akai rep. The OS will be fixed. This is relatively new MPC. They aren't just going to forget about it.

1. Akai released a final OS for the MPC 2000 and quickly followed that with the release of the MPC 2000XL.

2. Akai released the MPC 4000 but continued to support of the 2000XL and released a final OS for the 2000XL in 2005.

3. Akai released the 1000 but continued support for the MPC 4000, with the MPC 4000s last OS release in Jan 05...I believe.

4. Akai released the MPC 2500 and continued support of the..gulp...1000 which received a huge OS upgrade in Jan 06.

Akai actually has a pretty good track record. I know many of you haven't used similar products in the past...if you did, you would understand why Akai MPCs outlasted all those other machines.

Now if I was running Akai I would:

1. Continue upgrading the MPC 500
2. No more upgrades for the 1000. Let JJ do the future upgrades and charge for each upgrade
3. Upgrade the MPC 2500 so that it has all the features of the XL and 3000.....then let JJ do future alternative OS upgrades
4. Give the MPC 4000 a final OS upgrade then discontinue it.
5. Quickly release the next highend (MPC 3500/4500/5000)

shrednar wrote:Maybe it's time to quit bitching about the 2500 OS. Look at all these threads that have been started on the subject and we still have nothing. It will be fixed when it is. Until then, you'll just have to wait. No amount of complaining is going to change that. Everyone should have known what they were getting into before they bought their MPC. If you can't handle the wait, sell your 2500 and go buy an MV. Roland will be dropping a new MV and Akai will be dropping a new MPC this Jan. Thiers two new options for everyone that isn't happy with the machine that they blindly spent 2000.00 on.

YEAH! Akai is sayin to themselves "**** them whiney biitches!"

Complaining about a complainer is worse that the actual complaint which is made in hopes to better things on the product. At least show the company you are not happy, and will not buy the next released product! I have talked to Akai, they are aware but the guy i talk to's job is on the line so i can't expect straight answers.

To clear things up for the dudes here who don't understand why i am "apparently" whining that MTC doesn't work: I bought my MPC2500 about 6 months ago, and for the first few months the project i was working on didn't require any kind of syncing. I liked the MPC right away and it's ultra tight sequencer, fits the way i like to make beats and sequences. The next project did require the option of syncing to MTC to make some beats to picture, and as soon as i tried it didn't work right. I came here in this forum, said i was eager to see an Akai fix, then tried the JJ OS and MTC works, although there are other things that suck. So that's the story...

I still think Akai is disrespecting us 2500 users. Anyone here who doesn't think so probably :
a)doesn't need MTC to work like it has for the last 20+years
b)has a salary paid by Akai
c)hasn't paid for his MPC2500
d)doesn't use his MPC2500 in a professional environment with deadlines and all...

I'm happy to announce I do not use the mpc in a professional environment. And I don't use MTC.

Also, I'm sure akai is working on a big os for the 2500, which requires weeks of testing and debugging to get it right. I have never had a piece of hardware that was 100% debugged when it came out. (Elektron finally came out with a bug fix for the machinedrum.) They obviously made some decision based on the fact that there is a better probablility a customer does not use MTC. Probably bad for business.

It is not disrespect. If it doesn;t work for you, use something else that does. A professional should have backup.

Bickering among members should not be tolerated here.

agreed, bickering is boring. and fact is no one will agree with another person unless they already agree...

MTC is not working now, but it will (...i hope) when they release an update.

Some Akai programmers may be lurking in this forum, might as well show them you're not happy when you aren't...it might make them stand up during the next meeting with the bosses to tell them "hey this ain't right, the users are gonna leave for Roland!"

Nothing wrong with complaining...but when you complain about the same thing in every thread.....brace yourself for the responses.

If I used an MPC in a professional environment and it doesn't work...then that would mean that its time to get another tool that works. And if you are a professional as you say, you qualify for industry accomodation pricing...so you didn't lose out on that much money anyway...swap out the MPC 2500 for a 4000 which would better suit you in your professional environment.....

And stop your crying in everythread :P

then... why reply, jahrome? someone is not happy about akai taking too long to fix an OS because it's rolling out a new product, why do you care, don't you have anything else to do?

i never said i was not happy with the MPC! it's akai that i think is disrespecting you me and everyone else.

im very new to the mpc family but judging by the swiftness of the other fixes for the 2500 i feel they will make good with more updates for the unit, i agree with one of the previous posts believing that they are taking their time to test repair and improve instead of rushing it like the last few os's just to get us up and running. I work in the repair field and when it comes to units with computer boards and or software there are always bugs, we as consumers are made to find them and report them. They dont expect the units to be problem free when launched

Exactly. I just spent 3 hours programming a relatively simple program in C++. Most of the time was spent debugging.

One can only imagine the thousands of lines of code an akai programmer must go through during updates.
