ive got the zep album with stairway on it. are you saying not to layer? just to sample a single kick , snare Hat etc then??
what albums you selling that might be of use? its the kicks im struggling with at the mo, seem to be soft

sample the drum kick off the original record, EQ it, turn the lows up alot, layer a thick kick onto it, put a low pass filter on the thicker kick, and that will get you a decent Kick

your tip worked, I put a 808 style kick on with the sampled break and it sounded great, have to put it through a compressor though as its hot.
got some compressor plug ins, the "classic compressor" setting seeks ok for now.
the eq makes a whole load of difference though.

no doubt, glad to see it worked, also normalizing the drum break will give it some more power

When sampling dont sample it from the Hiphop joint go 4 the untouched un processed OG. For everyone out there thats serious bout this, and it aint some fad or phase-u was wearin studded dog collars and listenin to Punk 2 years ago and HATED HIPHOP(NO OFFENSE,DONT FRONT-I know i gotcha Opin) -Study the RECORDS.Dont wanna do it4 tha $$$$ or if u make it-dont let the $$$ motivate u-dont switch 4 no one-if they wanna change u , that means they wasnt feelin u from the door. word^^ i try... yeah the beastie used a hr16 for the drumachine on the lic to ill album that was my first drum mac too,but not casue they had it but cause i got it as a pament for doin a gig.
i just love collectiing records and good music.

the Beastie's where ahead of there time , they are the only group that still exsist from the early yrs of this hiphop culture. plus they are they only group that ever croosed over to another genre. so yeah they had better put there talent to there music.

beasties drop nothin but classics and by far are have the best Live rap performance out there, Mix Master Mike adds a completely new flavor to each song, after theyve killed it, the stage flips around and they are a full band. untouchable on most standards and you cant even compare dudes to that
