I'm getting this file directory full message on my MPC every time I try to save something, I should have enough memory( free memory...snd=29487K......seq=2624K) trying to find out what could be the problem....My operating system is 1.14, I also have a 2.2GB Orb drive, and a card reader, should I create different folders?

The "ROOT" drive path can only hold 512 files in short name dos compatible 8.3 character format.

The "ROOT" drive path will show this message when there are no more directory entries available.

Learn to use folders and save your programs/sounds etc in folders to avoid the "ROOT" drive path directory entry count limitation.

........and,

Learn to use the search tools in this forum where such informative threads like these below: ( could have helped you ).

In theory you could have no regular files in the "ROOT" path.

512 folders in the "ROOT" path.

...... and,

Subfolders within each of those folders.

Folders don't appear to have the 512 entry limit where directory entries are concerned.
