I called akai to ask what was up with that, and they said as long as you have your reciept, then that is good for the year warranty.

You USA residences are too lucky....
I can't get that free 128mb memory expansion for the mpc500 since I'm not living in the states.. that's too bad.. It's not fare

I look at it like some more proof of purchase type thing, I try to register all my gear where I can.

BTW: It cost me $1.46 extra a month to insure my 500 and iPod Nano, so all my gear is basically like $8.00 to insure it.

Wow..is that per month?? Ive been thinking of insurance also, seeing that I have a lot more gear now.

Yup a month, it covers if anybody breaks in the crib and jacks anything.
And it also covers at a gig if any roadies walk off with something, I don't gig yet but the main thing is the crib.
You have to have the receipt or an apprasial of what it's worth.
I haven't checked on fire/weather damage though, that'll be next.

So this can be done at any home insurance provider....right?? The company that provides my car insurance also provides home insurance....I'll have to check into this.
