problems syncing the 2500 in protools???

sometimes when i sync my tracks to protools the drum track doesnt loop perfectly for instance say i have a 4 bar loop of just the drum beat, when i hit play it comes in good but as it loops when it comes around to the beggining it sounds as if the loop is slightly off, the loop doesnt sound perfect but mostly just drum tracks other sounds r usually loop perfect ,only my drum tracks for example say i hit play in protools the drum comes in"boom tap" and that contiues for 4 bars when it loops back around it will sound like "b-boom tap" plz help if you can understand from my example thx

all i can say is, make sure your loop in PT is accurate... make sure the loop is playing till measure 5:01:000 and not measure 4:04:360 or such.... i use to have a similar problem in some older software i use to use, i believe it was cakewalk... or cubase... not sure... sorry if this sounds obvious but it's all i can recall...

If your using Midi Clock ive no idea why that would happen

However if ur using Midi Timecode it may be a wordclock issue..
Try syncing SPDIF in on Protools to the SPDIF output on ur MPC. This means Protools will then be using the MPC's clock for audio rather than its own internal clock.. then as ur midi & audio clocks are both coming from the MPC there should be no looping probs at all. Worked for me I had the same probs with Cubase (although the transport bug on current OS means iu got MPC as master now).

Not sure i made it too clear above.. was a bit wrecked when i wrote that

- If ur using Protools as the master (sounds like u are) then you need to sync MTC and Spdif wordclock on MPC to Protools.

- If ur using MPC as master (works better for me) then u need to sync MTC and SPDIF Wordclock on protools to the MPC..

this should stop the MTC running out of sync with the audio clock which i think is ur problem here..

thx ill check that ,but i noticed from looking at the wave on protools that theres a slight wave line at the end of the loop so thats what im hearimng causing it to sound of sync when loops back around, once thats erased it loops great ! anyway ill check that is there anything else i can check like frame rate ,if your using the 2500 with protools what r your settings??

im sure somebody else here has had this problem,or am i the only one using the 2500 & protools 7.1??

Not using with protools, got mine syncd to Cubase sx 3 - seems to work fine with frame rate 30fps

On the MTC front seems to like it when u leave at least 20 ticks on the lock in time..

Ok, if your using Midi clock, stop its terrible.

use Midi time code. then set the frame rate and base code rate to 25 frames per sec, on PT and the MP. this can be doenin the Session window in tools. if you have set up your midi devices correctly then you just click on the pull down menu in (session) and send midi T/C out to the mp.
this will make tools the master.

this is how it works for me, on a G5 with an Mbox2 Pro

the only other think is to check in that session window that the Song start is 00.00.00.00 not 01.00.00.00

thx for replying i tried to set my mpc to midi timecode slaved to protools but it only picks up when its set to midi clock ,i also set start time too 00:00 instead of 1:00 but still wont loop on time?? i might have to send it back for repairs cause when i got it i couldnt assign my samples too pads ?and had to ship too akai to get that fixed this might just be another bug in my mpc??
