Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hello,

i hope someone can help me. i've chopped a real nice sample but the endings of the new samples are too hard and they fade out too fast (i had to cut the samples too early sometimes, because otherwise i would have had the beginning of the voice from the singer on it). is there a trick to make the endings of the sample longer. i mean like the last tune should fade out much longer. is there a trick that i don't know? any help appreciated.

thanx

maybe detune the sample to make it longer (it will play longer) then increase the decay setting to make it fade where you want.
Not sure if that will work seeing I'm a mpc rookie.

it depends man, you need to figure it out, you can resample just the fading out part- trim it around the middle and try to blend it in with the fading out of the original sample to try extending it. or you can try just hitting that resampled pad many times rapidly at the end of the loop, you can take a random backround noise and just throw it in there. you can add some reverb to it. there are many tricks for u to discover.

u need to loop the end part of the sample... mess with the start and end points of the part that you want to be extended.... then once u got that, the sample will automaticaly be set to note off....then go into params and mess with the decay to determine how long u want the end to fade out....its gotta be in the manual somewhere... ive never checked.... but i think other fools here can explain better... maybe.. uummm .... LAMPDOG.... its like the way the sp works... i think its called loop in release or sumthn like that.... but go chek ur manual... but i garauntee the best way for you to figure it out is to practice homie....it doesnt work to well if the sample is too busy... like drums in it or percussion.... works like a mutherfukin charm with strings/horns/bass.....

thanks man, i'll try out your suggestions and will come back when i will have done it. hopefully it works somehow? the problem is that i don't get a smooth loop. i explain. i have 3 samples that i want to fit in a 2 or 4 bar loop. the problem is that some are shorter and longer than the other. at the beginning of the first bar i put in my first sample (the speed is already adapted 95.0). the problem is, the first sample doesn't finish at a normal clock. when i immediately put the second sample behind the first one it sounds ok but when i finally put the third at the end it's somehow messed up. the end and the beginnig of the loop don't fit. either there is a blank space of the end and the beginning or it sounds just messed up. when i play them without recording, just banging around on the 3 pads it sounds ok, but when i want to put em in a loop  i don't know why.... i guess i have to try and try till it works properly

yea honestly... u gotta first figure out exactly what it is ur tryin to accomplish.. then do whatever it takes to get it done.... there are many tricks....another one u might try is to play the sample that ur tryin to extend.. (i think u said it was the 3rd) and add a reverse to it... that way u play the sample and right before the sample cuts off, u hit reverse and the sample will play back then let go of the pad when u want it to stop...it sorta extends the sample, but again might not work well with certain samples..... but u need to chek ur manual and look for the loop in release section.. if its not there, go to mpc2000xl.com and i think its there with alot of other tricks n shlt......

samoht, you can do a few things when your trying to use your 3 samples and it wont fit in the sequence when you record.
Cut your samples in little pieces, use samples twice and dont fill up all the space with you samples.

What exact type of sample is it?

Singing
beat loop
synth
sinewave

what?

it's a normal sample from vinyl. it's an instrumental part with horns and piano. maybe the tempo of the three samples aren't the same? i don't know. when i listen to it it sounds the same. first sample ok, second sample, (put after the first one) not ok. the tempo of the beat doesn't fit anymore.

This is the only way to accompish what you want to do. Also use bpm match along with this technique and it should work nicely :!:
