I use a Sandisk CF reader hooked up to my MAC, it's formatted to my 2KXL. Then I make a PGM on the 2KXL (but with the MPC 500 Layout) and drag it onto the 500.
When I say 500 layout I mean Kik 1 on pad 1, Snr 1 on Pad 2, Hat 1 on Pad 3, Kik 2 on Pad 4,.....etc So that all the kiks are one Left most pads on the 500 just like on my 2KXL.

I'm not really shore if I really formatted the Compact Flash card on the Mp.
Cause the mpc could write to the card when I just got the CF.
But I have at least 25 beats that I can't risk to wipe if I format the CF card.
Maybe I should rename all samples so I can Import the Beats into the computer before I format the card in the Mpc2kxl.

Is there some way to see if I formatted the card on the MPC?

Maybe even get another CF card and format it, then back up those samples/beats to it, then reformat the first one.

And you may want to get like a little 128mb card for transfers between 2KXL->Comp->500, I formated my 2KXL card with 8 (A-H) partitions, and my Mac Didn't recognize that card at all.
So I grabbed a 128 mb card and formated it with only 1 (A) partition and My MAC see's it just fine.
So I save my 2KXL stuff to the (A-H) card, then save a 500 pad layout version to my 128 mb "transfer" card, then use the MAC to USB it to the 500.
Hope that makes sense.
