I have an Akai MPC2K XL. I normally use it for programming drums only.
This is what I do:
I have a Yamaha AW4416 that I use for tracking instruments. I sync the MPC with the Yamaha through MTC. I have the akai 8 1/4" output card to route each drum to it's own open channel on the AW4416. This works out great since it allows me to use all 16 tracks for recording.
I recently purchased BFD to utilize it's awesome samples. I would like to program the drums using the MPC's sequencer, then midi it up to BFD so I can use it's way better sounds.
Is there an easy way to do this? i was thinking of maybe purchasing an inexpensive desktop computer that will run BFD, get an M-audio 2496 soundcard to midi up to the akai and improve latency.
The question I have is, will the sounds that I trigger only be outputted through the computers soundcard? How could I route the samples through the Akai in order to utilize the 8 1/4" analog out's?
Thanks in advance!
