File management

hey.
I loaded some sample CDs onto the internal hard drive using ak.sys. Now I want to move them to another folder on the same hard drive. I cannot figure out how to move existing sample CD folders on the internal hard drive to a new folder on the same drive. I think I can drag the individual files to another folder, but not the whole folder. I checked the user manual and the ak.sys manual and didn't see this.

I wasn't even able to drag individual files to different folders. I guess where they land is where they lay. Anybody know? My HD is getting sloppy and needs organizing.

load your sample cd in onto your pc first arrange your folders then drag them into akai sys (one folder at a time or a folder that contains all of your new arranged files) then to the 4k thats what i had to do ...

yea that sucks!!! I started converting my sample CDs into the S5000 format on the PC. While I was converting new CDs, I was transferring the ones I had completed. Whenever I tried to transfer too much (5-6 gig) at once I would have a problem with aksys. It's annoying because after I had transferred about 5 gigs worth of sample Cds, I thought that I wanted to put them in a different folder on the MPC. In order to do that I have to delete all of them, then I have to retransfer them over the USB connection.....no thanks. I'll just live with it. Retarded!

I don't want to complain too much though because we were waiting for a feature (aksys) like this on the EM-U Ultra samplers for several years, and now it won't ever happen.

What they should have done is actually install Ethernet connections on the 4000 instead of usb or even better a Firewire port....alot of digital recorders have ethernet to transfer files from the unit to the pc/mac it is faster, easier and more stable than having issues with a USB driver.... and at least if there is issues you might have them after the files are transferred because it is so much quicker.
