What is the benefit of using MTC as appose to the Midi Clock. I am still using OS 1.21 and MTC does not work. Does it even work in OS 1.22 correctly or not??

Thanks :D

I can not get it to work on any OS, Akai or JJ as slave. Been in touch with Akai support and I am boxing it up and sending it off to them to take a look. I suspect I will be fobbed off with some lame excuse, and get a working new one.
I even swapped the unit for a new one when i fisrt got it and the guys in DV could not get it to sync to cubase.

MTC works properly on Akai 1.20 and JJ (all versions). Akai introduced MTC at 1.20 but then broke the slave mode on subsequent releases, and haven't fixed it yet.

Midi Clock is simply a set of pulses uses to keep time. There is no absolute time info, so generally it is used to sync bpm based effects (delays and suchlike).

Midi Time Code gives a precise timecode, allowing two machines start/stop in the same place during a song. For this reason it is better used for tracking. One thing to note is that MTC does NOT transmit BPM info, so the two machines have to be manually set to the correct tempo.

maxim1 - seems HIGHLY unlikely that MTC would be broken within the hardware on your machine. Are you 100% sure it's not user error? If you want a walkthrough on how to sync to Cubase I'd be happy to help.

maxim1 - the settings in your 1st screenshot are irrelevant. I would reset them to default values just make sure nothing is interfering.

Your midi i/o config looks correct. I presume the mpc can send and recieve normal midi messages from the PC just fine.

On the MPC, what OS are you using? 1.20 is the only OS that works fully in MTC Slave mode.

I am running JJ OS 3.03, I will set evey thing back to default in the 1st screen shot and try akai 1.20. I have to say, I am having midi problems from mpc to pc. I seem to be sending midi data down all channels. This is the second problem I have at the moment.

I have a parrell thread ruuning on this issue.
what ever channel i use in a track on the mpc, i can choose the corresponding channel in Nuendo for that track it will not make a difference
channel one on the mpc will play on all channels in Nuendo despite selecting channel one in Nuendo.

This is why i think its an mpc hardware thing

Sorry, I misled you. MTC works on all versions of JJ's OS, and Akai 1.20.

maxim1 - that's the way Nuendo works. It takes input from any channel, and converts it to the channel number you set in the midi track in Nuendo. Try setting the midi track in Nuendo to ALL. This will pass thru the midi data unchanged. Your problem then will be setting the VSTi to only respond to a certain channel. Some VSTis (like Kontakt or Halion) can do this no problem but others cannot. You should be able to use the Input Transformer on the Nuendo midi channel to filter out midi channels that you don't want to use.

Fellaz, you guys do know there are too many threads to count regarding how to get MTC to work..including MTC sync with Neundo.

But...tell me if you want Nuendo to be an MTC Master or Slave and I will walk you through the process. With the current OS 1.22, using the MPC 2500 as an MTC Master works better that using it as a Slave. But regardless, I will walk you through the method you intend to use.

Holla...
