Is is possible to circumvent the pads on the MPC1000 and use the MPD24 as an interface (using the MPC1000 as a master sequencer and hard drive storage for sounds only)?

ive used the mpd 16 on my 1k, only downside is the space it takes up and extra ac adapter taking up power conditioner slots. can use for extra pads or straight up instead of the 3/4 ones. i assume the 24 works the same or better.

Thanks! I just wanted to make sure that I will have a workaround for those non-reliable MPC1000 pads...

The answer is no.

External MIDI controllers will only trigger samples and change sequences via program changes. No switched-mode pad functions are available. It might take a bit of wear off the 1000 pads for regular playing, but that's it.

The OS really needs a means of FULL remote control via midi. Until then...

Sounds like a good idea to add on an upcoming JJ OS update, don't you think?
