mpc 60 excessive noise

this 60 is noisy as hell. internally and externally. the inverters been whizzing since i got it, but now i can hear a pulsing type noise on top of that. almost like.
also, with no sounds loaded, pressing and holding onto pads makes feint high pitched tone thru the outputs. whats going on in this thing?
