Has anyone tried this particular flashcard with the MPC1000?

The thing is that I found this really great deal on one of them. But I'm not sure it'l work?

It might be a waste. I think the 1000 will only read up to 2gig cards.

Yeap, It would be a total waste to buy a 4GB card. The MPC will use 2 GB and ignore the rest or it could even not work at all.

With the Magistor 2.2GB you'll only loose 0.2 GB, but I'm not sure the card will work and'I'm afraid to waste $170 for nothing.

First, you're 2.2gb card won't waste .2 gb, the 2gb is a limit of the FAT16 table used in those devices. 2.14gb is the limit, depending how you count gb (in binary (2^(31)) or decimal (2 x 1,000,000,000) ...The MPC 1K can read FAT16 formatted cards. The 2.2gb is probably a marketing ploy. I used to work for a disk drive company, they tend to use decimal so the numbers look bigger.

But...looks like you're right about the 4GB MicroDrive. It uses FAT32, which I'm guessing the Akai *may* not support, at least not yet (they better if they sell a hard drive). That being said, Lexar has a 4GB CF card that has a switch on it, allowing it to act like 2 x 2GB flash cards. I thought the microdrive did this also, but I was wrong.

Anyone get theirs yet and tried it?

Just got mine and it's NOT working. Everytime I try to format it the mpc says "invalid format". WTF! Anyone else get this message & worked around it?
