Whats gone out/broken on your 4000?

Same here except a tiny mark next to a pad. Had mine since 2002!

One of my cursor keys just recently started to get stuck. Sometimes it works fine and sometimes it gets stuck. I fear it will go out soon. I think the cursor keys are flimsy. Then again, I did buy mine used so it could be worn. Hope it's not too difficult to fix. Other then that, my MPC works flawlessly. Maybe I ought to consider hooking up a USB keyboard to reduce wear of my MPC buttons too. That seems like a good idea. As expensive as this machine is, I think the buttons should've been better constructed. Akai should've made them similar to computer keyboard keys which can take years of daily abuse.

I still have analogue synths that work perfectly 25 years on (mainly the Roland and Yamaha ones - excellent build quality and components) -

but Akai gear falling to bits after 4 years.

pads and sliders are ok.
I only experienced problems with mutec analog output board, now it´s replaced and everything works fine...

My play start button is a bit jiggly, but it still worx, same thang hapened on my 2000xl.

Has anyone had any problems with the display. I have an s3000XL, and literally, I need a magnifying glass to read it, but then again, it's a complety diferent tpye.

after almost one year.....nothing.

but then again i dont beat the piss out if it either....

i had a 200xl for 5 years and didnt break anything on that either.

i think i have a dead pixel.. one pixel stays completely white when i adjust the brightness of my screen. This is no horror and hardly noticable but maybe it is the start of a dead screen?

Just the data wheel.. You gotta be careful with it.. Usually always ends up a value higher or lower than where you want it.

had my 4000 since May 2002....the original screen and hard drive both had to be replaced in 2004.....my current screen blanks out every now and then but comes back with a gentle tap.....my stop button is super loose but holding on...love this machine

No problems since 2003.

I do use a wireless keyboard and I find it great
1- the add names becomes less painfull on the jog and buttons
2- all the letters under each button of the mpc are shortcuts on the keyboard(or vice versa)

only thing the usb port is in the front!!!

my digital out/in never has worked

anyone else have that?

it's all analouge coming in on/out this machine - wish i could use 1's and 0's

I have about a good 3-4 lines on the screen, channel 5 of my outs doesnt work and like 2 more sound real low.
