i'm having a little trouble finding this info in my manual and through the search. any assistance would be highly appreciated!

1. when i first got my mpc2000 the default startup setup would have completely blank tracks and sequences. now, suddenly, when i turn my mpc on it brings up one of my files. how can i switch it back to bring up a blank slate AND how could i get blank sequences, pads and tracks if i do have some of my files up (ie. i finished making a beat and now want to start a new one from scratch).

2. i can record midi from my microkorg to a track and it plays fine. however, if i try to record another track and change the program (ie. from bass to strings), the 1st track (bass) will then change to strings too. is it possible to have more than one program playing in my sequence.

Thanks

For #2, I'm having the same issue ... or something very similar. I have a Nord Lead 3 and I have the MPC trying to change the programs ... if I only have 1 track its fine, but when I have 2 or more tracks on diff midi channels (but same cable), it changes the programs and banks to something WAY off. Like, I said "Change to Program 5 on Bank 2" and it goes "nooo you want program 37 on bank 5" and it only changes the midi channel I'm currently on in the MPC.

A local dnb guru was mentioning to me that it may have something to do with the Omni Option (Open Window on a midi track I believe) but I funked around with that for hours and I couldn't fix the situation.

This is actually the last thing I have left to fix before I can bring out the MPC to do live gigs .. I'm not going to change 4 freakin instruments manually all throughout a song! If you hear anything on this please let me know. I called Akai and they said it was my Nord Lead and to call Clavia, but Cubase works just fine with switching programs and banks.

1. Shift & Load and click SETUP, choose Auto Type File Loading OFF
(this is how its done on the 2000XL at least.

2. You need to read the MPC manual section on sending Program Changes. Program Changes are basically messages set to a midi device (keyboard) to tell it What Banks to use on What Midi Channel

Do a search on program changes on this site you might find some helpful information.
