Does anybody have this issue? I'm not sure it's down to the latest OS though (running 4.15 now).

In song mode, i'll put "HOLD" as the number of repetitions, and my footswitch is assigned to F6 (the "NEXT" button). It will loop 'round and 'round, but when I press the footswitch to go to the next sequence, nothing happens. It's not the footswitch, because the MPC also doesn't respond to the NEXT button. It will keep on looping the sequence that is on hold unless I press the "SUDDEN" button.

This doesn't happen all the time, but I've had it happen 5 times during the last gig. Our singer started to sing the head again, but my MPC was still playing the previous sequences in spite of me pressing the next button furiously, resulting in a huge train wreck!!!

Any suggestions as to what could cause this?

Have you checked the polarity of the footswitch? Maybe it's the wrong type? Try another footswitch.

If that's not the problem it's probably a bug - try to repeat it and then post a bug report on JJs page (step by step how to get the bug)

But not in the new OS, it's just as broken in the original AKAi OS.

Here's how it works : in song mode, put in a sequence that has HOLD as the number of repeats. If the number of the song (top right) is highlighted, the button NEXT will not work. If I press the down arrow and highlight one of the sequences, the NEXT button works.

How exactly do I report this to JJ? Anybody else wanna try to duplicate this bug?
Does no-one use this feature? I find it very handy because i'm playing the piano and operating the mpc at the same time.

tnx, I reported the bug.
Does anybody feel like trying to duplicate the bug on their mpc? I'd feel a lot better knowing that i'm not the only one suffering from this.

I suppose not many people here play straight ahead jazz with an mpc while playing the piano at the same time 8)

I'd like to see a video of you doing that, post'em if you got'em.

ok --- so it's 2011. I have had a blue MPC1000 since 2004 or so. I has always been great. except - once in a while... the "next " button - in song mode... would not work. before each set i would test it... and sometimes... no deal - it would just "hold" --- BUT - the way i tricked it was to go MODE> record>.... record... cancel... record... cancel... and say to the MPC - "see... i know that your little F6 button works... in every other screen..." and it would work until further notice. NOW... about to go on tour... next button is just not working............ need this to switch parts on certain songs with foot pedal... so --- I go to a MPC master friend... and he looks at it and comes up with the following new "trick." he finds... that if you move the cursor to the actual sequences below... instead of the song title and the very top - every thing works fine after that.... you just have to remember to do it every time you open a new song... not very cool... but it worked... then the blue MPC went crazy. long story... so THEN ---

THIS AFTERNOON - I purchased a brand new MPC1000 BLACK... nice pads... no upgrade needed... rad... took the ram out of the blue... i'm gold...... put in the FLASH --- BAM !

BUT !!!

HOLD BUTTON IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM !!!

let me just say... that this current project is the simplest yet... very minimal... not even a possible overload issue...

SO... the facts...
-------------------

while the cursor is on "Song: 01-Song01" (at the very top of the screen.)

if you start the song - the holds will hold whether or not you push the "next button." ((F6))

however... "sudden" (F4) works fine...

BUT - if you place the cursor within the song structure... (on any of the sequences in the list)

THEN - the "next" button - (F6) works fine...

so... is this normal... because I remember this never being an issue in the past - either with the AKAI OS or the free JJOS.

if JJ0S1 would solve this... i would buy it right this instant. but i don't think that is the issue.

I'll try and attach photos...

AM I CRAZY ? IS THIS JUST THE WAY IT IS FOR EVERYONE ?

if not... then the only common denominator... would be the 128 MB expansion...
but why would F6 work in every other way --- except in this next function ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

It is the same for every MPC1000. I've had this for ages, and even now I forget to put it into the song structure when playing live. Only accurate use of the sudden button works then.

I've signaled this to JJ, but never got a coherent answer (the language barrier is big).

cheers

Thanks so much for getting back about that - just wanted to make sure i wasn't crazy --- i was having a breakdown.

one thing i did find is - if you've started playing your song and you get to a "hold" sequence... and then you realize that you left the cursor on the song title... you can press down... and even if you are 20 sequences down... it will put the cursor on the sequence you are in... and then - the next button will work...

so it's not as big of a deal as i thought...

and hey - i always wanted a second mpc...

but i still think that this shouldn't be an issue...

anyways - THANKS !!!
