Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500

Hi everybody! :D
Today I recieved my VERY FIRST akai mpc!! it's the 500, and I'm excited to finally have one in my hands!
I played with his internal sounds for a while, but now, with manual ,I'm trying lo learn how to sample properly ( I understood that i must buy the Ram expansion...!!!).
I usually work with softwares, but really like the idea of sampling with mpc, editing using recycle or soundforge and then sequence again with akai..
I would like to know from you expert guys,if there are some "fast" ways to assign samples to programs and pads from my pc using usb.
Like..if I have a break cutted in recycle, how can I put the slices on the different pads?I know some softwares exist for mac..but is there a way on pc to do that fast?
Probably this is a "newbie" question, but i'm an mpc owner since only 5 hours! :) ( and I'm pretty in love with this small machine!!!)
thanx for giving me some advice...
Peace..

128mb expansion should be free from akai, they have a special offer right now.

http://www.akaipro.com/

the offer flashes in the upper corner area.

Thanx guys.. you are all very kind!!
I spent last night playing and sampling with mpc.. I had so much fun!!
I would like to make a new question.. I'll try to do it here instead of opening another thread..
Once you find some good samples.. how do you usually find the right tempo to work on them.. I mean.. I sampled some good horns phrases, but I don't the original bpm, so I don't know if I have to stretch the samples,or find the right tempo to play a track with them..
I know..this is probably a veeeery stupid question, but since you are all experts ( and kind! ) I would like to understand the best way to work my samples..
THank you again..
( Chap I'll check the free mem thing, but I think we english people are not so lucky... :( )
Cheers!!!

well, play with it at different tempo's.

sometimes i will create a beat and sequence a whole song out of it at 85 BPM and then by chance i'll speed up the tempo to 92 and it will sound much hotter.

you just gotta work each sample different. its a matter of getting a feel for what the MPC can do in conjuction with whatever you are working with.

just give it some time and you'll see what i mean.
