Trim Question

when i sample a sound then put it in trim it doesnt look the same as in the manual. in the manual is has the sound wave all up close....i can see the wave but its reaaally small. what am i doin wrong?

use the open window button while your at the start or end trim and zoom in

Yeah, sample trimming in a pain in the butt on the MPC ... I think I've only used it once and that was because I noticed a smidget of what I cut it out of was still in it, and I didnt' feel like sticking it back on the computer

aright coo thanks guys. ive heard of that mpc editor program, but would i have to get a zip drive for my computer to get the samples on to it? i have a scsi drive can i put them on disc and the load them to my computer somehow?

the mpc editor out there just makes your program files as far as I know. It takes a bunch of files and assign them to the pads for you, saving a lot of time fudging around in the MPC. The program file is a pretty small file, usually able to fit on a single floppy disk .... as long as you're not moving all of your samples to the MPC when you use mpc editor, you should be able to use whatever you have in the MPC (unless you have a zip drive on the mpc but not one on the computer). The MPC editor doesn't do anything to trim your sound files .... it just makes sound assignment to pads easier

I bet if you turned your Rec. gain up a little more the wave would be alot bigger.

Yeah and press OPEN WINDOW where you set the start and end points to zoom in. Sample trimming isnt that bad on the MPC when you can start to "see" the sounds. I can spot a kick snare hat just by lookin at em. Takes a while of practice and just screwin wit it.

You need a wave editor like soundforge or something like that.

now, if i do get a wave editor program what all is involved in making that work? do i transfer my samples with the zip disc to the computer or is there a way to connect my computer and mpc? bare with me ya'llll haha
