2500 with mpc3000 converters?

A thread about the sound of the MPC 2500 and MPC 3000. It suprised quite a few people...

So glad you put that out there Jahrome! I've been saying this same thing for YEARS (even on the old MPC forums). The slight difference in sound can easily be duplicated with ANY cheap equalizer using minimal changes.

I used an old $20 dollar vintage eq with a $10 realistic mixer to alter the sound.

Note!
I can add more to the high end (more air), mid level (more body) or low end signal (more bass). The mixer adds light distortion and the vintage EQ adds color to each sample. I only did a quick tweak of the sample to give ya a example.

Every equalizer performs different. Some add color or act more aggressive on the signal. It's always best to look for reviews before buying any effect processor. I suggest, you stick with a 5 to 10 band eq. Anything more is unnecessary! Your samples don't have to sound perfect-before recording into the mpc. You will still have the option to adjust the eq during mix down.

MPC 2500 with an S9XX sampling engine and variable samplerates. That's what I'd like to see.

Damn! The Mpc and s950 sound the best! Will it be necessary to use both, lile... sample everything into the s950 then sample that to the mpc2500? Do the mpc2000xl and mpc2500 have the same sound quality, you think?

No, the mpc2000xl sounds a little brighter on the high end IMO!

You can use the s950 as a sound module. Connect the 2500 to the midi input of th s950. I believe the s900 and 950 series have the same converters as the mpc 60. Although, IMO it would be cheaper and easier to use an external eq to get the sound you are looking for.

How bout drums? skull snaps sample - sp1200 vs 2kxl or 2500 vs s950....i mean if it aint too much to ask . This is a historical moment...you breaking down myth and legend right now.
