In the spirit of Christmas....
What you are most likely experiencing is Latency.
Latency is the delay between the audio coming into the inputs of your computer via your sequencer (cubase) and what goes out of your audio outputs.
Why the delay?
Sequencers need a lot of processing power to pass audio through plugins, softsynths etc.
Most data going through the sequencer is placed in a Buffer.
The Buffer is an area of computer memory that the sequencer reserves for handling and processing audio and Midi data. The Buffer feeds the sequencer and as it empties it fills up with new data.
The Buffer basically buys time for the sequencer to process all the data.
If you have a Big Buffer then the computer has more time to process the audio but the price you pay is a delay between input and output.
If your Buffer is smaller then you have less power but a quicker path.
What you need to do is find the Audio buffer settings in cubase and reduce the Buffer number. If you reduce it too much then you will get drop outs. ie the sequencer gets overpowered and splutters to a halt. Try and find a happy medium.
The Buffer settings on Cubase depend very much on what kind of audio hardware and drivers you are using. Some audio hardware cannot go below a certain point without getting drop outs.
It's been a long, long time since I used cubase but the above should apply nonetheless.
