Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Okay, what I'm trying to do is take track 1, export it as a midi file, take track 2, export it as a midi file, etc...

Reason being, I know that Battery 3 now loads MPC programs, so, after creating most of my beat on the MP2KXL, I could just load the individual programs in different instances of Battery 3 (within Tracktion 2). Then, if I have the individual midi files, load them to their respective tracks and have my beat loaded on my computer with damn near no fuss.

Please let me know if this is possible. Thank you.

Save MID seq, on your mpc. Load those into your computer sequencer that is midi'd to the mpc.

My only concern is that the MIDI seq will contain all notes for the sequence, thus, if Track 1 (in the MPC) is using program 1, Pads A1-A8, and Track 2 is using program 2, pads A5-A8, the MPC program ( when loaded in Battery 3) will be playing some sounds in multiple instances because of A1 being present more than once.

Do you get my concern?

I'll try your method, but what I'm thinking also is, maybe if I mute the tracks that won't be needed for the midi file that I'm exporting, Tracktion will only play the files from the program that are associated with the solo'd track.

I know it's a shot in the dark, but it might be possible.

all you have to do is insert a new instatiation of battery for every program and assign them to the correct midi channels....

Sounds feasible. I'll try it.

Quick question, so I can set my programs to different midi channels? Never tried this, especially since I never had no need to. How is this done? So, I would assign my program within the MPC to a specific midi channel and then, once I load the programs within Battery, just assign Battery to the same channel?

Let me know. Thank you.

not sure how it works in traction but in pt you would....

import the midi data, this would create as many midi channels as tracks you used in the mpc> create an aux track for every program> insert battery on each of the aux channels> load 1 program into each instance of battery> assign the correct midi channel to the aux track with the corresponding program.....
