MIDI SETUP! I am dumb or this is so complicated!

Newbie here.I have read the manual several times and this is the problem that I have :

1.Sound Moude is set on channel 1.MIDI OUT from module is set to MIDI OUT A.
2.Keyboard controller is set to channel 1.MIDI IN from keyboard is set to channel 1.
3.Track 1 is set to midi Program NONE
3.I can play notes from the module
4.When I press record and play notes from the module, the MPC does not record them.
What am I doing wrong?

maybe you are cabled backwards?

IN means the MIDI info is coming into the device, OUT means it is going out.

You should be sending data OUT of the controller, IN to the MPC, OUT of the MPC, IN to the module. Your MPC is acting like a VCR in this case, recording your performance data...

The channels are like tv station signals, if you want to record channel 10, the device has to be set to that channel to get that signal. And if you want to send info over channel 10, you have specify it on the device sending the info and the device receiving it.

Try setting up two different MIDI tracks on your MPC, with a different channel for each. Adjust the module so totally different sounds are set to receive from the different channels. Record a performance using the MPC first, for each track, to make sure it is sending the data properly to the module. Once you get that working, troubleshoot the controller.

MPC´s MIDI OUTA goes into sound module´s MIDI IN.

Sound Module shows channel 1.
Controller plays in channel 1.


Program is NONE
Midi channel is set on 1A

It does not record..

so, you can play the module with the controller? that would mean the data is being sent properly.

but you can't record. are you holding the rec and play buttons at the same time? if so, describe what you expect to happen, and then what happens when you try it.
