TURNTABLE PRE-AMP QUESTION

Hey guys,

I have been diggin for samples for over 4 years now, using two stanton str8-60's and an SMX-201 mixer as my turntable setup... I would take the output from the mixers headphone jack and run it into my input on my computer to record a sample.
well, the other day i sold my tables and mixer for extra cash flow to go towards my MPC 2000XL MCD fund (I am currently using FL Studio 5).


Once I have the mpc I am obviously going to need new a turntable to sample from.... My question is:

DO I NEED TO PURCHASE ANY TYPE OF PRE-AMP MIXER OR CAN THE OUTPUT OF THE TURNTABLE BE DIRECTLY CONNECTED TO THE INPUT OF THE MPC????

unless you're using a piece of sh!t turntable from a stereo no. but a mixer does help. use the same type of turntable that u've been using. you dont need the same brand but a dj table is that deal

ive used stanton str8 60s 80s geminis and technics...
only thing u need is any turntable like the stanton str8 60 is perfect for sampling... a ok pair of needles like sure sc35 and to answer ure question ii think u need a pre amp mixer.... i tried recording off my gemini turntable into my mpc and the sounds were without any base...
when u plug ure turntable into ure mpc ure mpc reads it as a lign in... but to make a turntable sound good u need a mixer with phono on it....
BUTTTT
stantons have an option on them... theres a little button situated or under the turntable or under the platter where u could switch phono to line
so if u buy any turntables from stanton u wont need a mixer... just switch the phono to line thats it thats all

if you need, you can get a cheap preamp at radioshack that runs off a 9v batt for somethin around ten bucks thatll do the job
