question about pgms

ok say youve made a 2 bar pattern using what youve just programmed(.pgm)(kick,snr etc). Then you want to add some bass but instead of adding into the program the bass sounds, you just load a premade bass pgm from your disk. Woulkd you be able to overdub a sequence of the bass sounds(pgm) from the previous 2bar (kick,snr etc) pattern??? Tell me if this is possible and how to do it ...

load it and down below track pick what track you want to play on, to use a new program you need to record on a different track. At the bottom where it says S:DRUM1 change that to the program (1-4) that you want. Just remember when you load up a program it bumps whatever is currently in DRUM1. You have to change it back tho the prog you want and move the new program to a different number (1-4)

cool... tried that but my current 2bar pattern disapears. Isnt there any way to keep the kick,snr pattern then overdub with some bass sounds(bass pgm)but then when you play it you hear kick snar and basss????????

The easiest way to do it is to make sure you switch the track to track 2(or 3,4,5,etc.) and Drum1 to Drum2(or 3 or 4) before you load the new program and it will automatically load to Drum2(3,4). If you forget to do this you can go into the program screen and press Drum2(3,4)>scroll through the programs until you see the bass program. Now when you go to a new track make sure to select Drum2,3,4(your bass program).

Also, I'm not too sure about this, but I think if you're on the 2K as opposed to the 2KXL you can only use one program at a time.

Of course you can use more than one program at a time. You can freely assign up to 24 programs in memory to any 4 DRUM holders.

Shyda, you need to read the manual on this as it's pretty fundamental to how you operate your MPC. You need to assign each instrument program to its own DRUM, then assign each instrument to its own track in the sequencer - then assign a DRUM to each track.

So, let's say you have a drum program and a bass program.

Bass = DRUM1
Drums = DRUM2

Now in the sequencer, set track 1 to DRUM1 and name it bass'
set track 2 to DRUM2 and name it drums.

Record each track separately.
