Getting MPC pad sounds when playing Korg!?!?

Hey apologies if this problem has surfaced here before, but I couldnt find it anywhere.

Im a partial newbie, and have just set up the MPC with a Korg Micro X (same connections as triton etc) and have everything hooked up to amixer etc and getting sounds of both mpc and keyboard, everything works is basically what im getting at.

ALTHOUGH the one major problem im having is that if i want to record a bass line over a beat, im finding that there are sounds that are assigned to a pad on the MPC that are playing back when I hit particular/corresponding keys on the Micro X.

Basically all I want is to do is record Micro X sounds over beats in the MPC, I dont need nor want to play MPC sounds using the Micro X keys or play Micro X sounds via the MPC pads... Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

nb. I understand that im sending MIDI signals (not audio) to the MPC, i figure im missing something vital to do with alligning pads, in that they are interferring with sounds assignged by the Micro X to the same note, key etc??

i think the point is that you got selected a program in the track your recording... highlight program, jogwheel to off and then you got it no mpc sounds when your playin' micro x.

I asume u want the mpc to trigger the micro to play back the base line when u are done recording. But any how i will give u a fix.


If you just want to play the micro without hearing any sound from the mpc, simply set the active track recieve chanel (mode + Midi/sync) on the mpc to a midi channel that is not use din your hook up. This will solve your problem.

Now if you want the sequencer on the mpc to playbak what u played on the micro, make sure you conect the micro to teh mpc via midi and vice versa.(micro midi out --> mpc midi in....Mpc midi out --> micro midi in).
assign the toen on teh micro to a midi track and rememeb rteh chanel. then set the active track reiced chanel on teh mpc to that same chanel. Then liek any recording set the type of program on teh mpc to midi and turn program of. then set the midi out put of the mpc to the channel u asigned on the micro for playback and midi out on the mpc to (A or B) acording to where its plugged.

After you recorded you midi track on teh mpc , it should play back your micro.

It sounds like you want to use the MPC as your sequencer. I would set the micro up so it's split into a controller and a module. Set the micro to LOCAL OFF, choose a channel for it, then just create a track on the mPC for the channel the micro is using... Make sure the track is set to MIDI instead of DRUM, set the program to NONE, and pick the channel you want to send to the micro....
