yo whats good. i used to use a mpc2000 but about a year ago i got into computer software. well for those not in the know if you take acid pro 4.0 and reason 2.5 you can do the same things as if you had an mpc acid is the ultimate loop based software and also chops up samples like no other.with acid rewired to reason i can bang my drums out and also play my basslines let me know what you think of my setup. oh and by the way i also have the waves gold plugin package.

I'm glad you finally found a REASON to do ACID :) .

One thing that you will probably miss is the pads homie. You can't duplicate that "realtime" pad-banging on software.

I was mixing down this kids beats a few days ago and he started to b**** that I was using acid to fine tune the mix and vocals. He had me do it all on my multitrack and my shitty mixing board. After he left I just dumped it into Acid and made that ish shine. i think that it is fun and gives your more options to use a compromise of hardware and software to make beats.

True dat... I find the best way to produce is a nice balance of Software and Hardware... That way your production is more versatile.

I would have did the same thing. Some options are just quicker on PC/MAC, some options are meant for hardware and done better on hardware, others are meant for software and ease of use. I use both also. Example, Timestrech on xl. Takes a long time, I use sound forge for that. Sequencing I use my gear because it's easier for me on the actual MPC/Triton/ASR and I like the hands on type junk. 10-20 band eq inside of SF, xl def. doesn't have that.

Software is integral to my recording setup, but people come talking about the death of the MPC as they know it from software that's been around for years while AKAI released 2 new MPC's in that same time.

Tell me something good, don't waste my time with this bullshiit.

I started with acid, and then after only a half year of eorking with the world of software, I was very bored. I felt that hardware would push me into a new direction. I would agree, any machine is no match for software as far as power, but where the mpc won me over, was the ease of use, and loads of fun involved in making that beat.

Plus, when I hook up with my partner and play a beat while he lays down the scratch, I couldnt even imagine wanting to hook up my pc set up at a party. The mpc is a mobile platform. And as far as a lap-top, still not the same hands on, party thumping live performance machine.

Don't get me wrong, software is a blessing, because it makes alot of things easier, especially editing when it's so visual... but truth is, some cats abuse their software and don't use thier EARS anymore as far as to what sounds good. Me, I make the beats on hardware but I am going to be doing my multitracking and mixing on software, a combination of both should satisfy my tastes as it would many others. Let's not knock each other's methods, it's the finished product that really matters, and using a setup you're comfortable with, as long as you're using your EARS to see what works and what doesn't.

If your peeps is payen what do you care? Don't you charge by the hour. I have run in to those who feel they know how I should work so _ I let them tell me. 5 min Cha Ching. Then Start it in the software or hardware of thier choice. (More time) Cha Ching. Then they realized that they wasted thier time. I dont care. they ask for a break and I say. That was your choice I didn't decied to switch mid stream and I didn't waste your time arguing. They always pay. And happy becuase they know that was thier choice. And I gave what they asked for except breaks.... I never give breaks...
Here is a hint how I stay in buisness:
You pay a deposit to get scedualed then the Bal is due at the start of the session.
I have yet to come up short. I have my wife watch the clock then tell me when time is about up. Stop in time to save thier music or comercial what ever and if they want more time they pay up front.

I just don't play with the cheddar ya dig....
