Autochromatic Feature JJ OS 4.23B

Ok I hope I dont get cut up too bad, this is my first post. I have a question about the autochromatic feature, Im using a M-Audio Midicontroller linked to my 1000 and the autochromatic feature(compliments of JJ) works good but it seems like the velocity along with the tune of the pads changes, is this a bug, is there a fix? can I change just the tune of the pad without affecting the speed?

no. the tune works just like this:playing the sample at different speeds.

also, best to not use the word 'velocity' for playback speed since velo. is mostly used for 'how hard you hit the key/pad'.


changing tune and speed independently involves some kind of timestretching, which is possible but a longer process.

That is an original Akai design like 98% of all the other features of the OS..

in the original akai OS there is no way to automatically create a chromatic programme using a single sample mapped accross the 64 pads with incremental tuning. There is the 16 levels/tune feature, but it is hardly as useful as the JJ autochromatic feature.

PS: why exactly are you so bitter/negative about the JJ OS?

This feature was already in other MPCs before the JJ OS.....do some research...

Yes, but not on he 1000 - my question to you still stands: what's your problem with JJ OS?

And furthermore, given that autochromatic was a standard feature on older MPC models, why did Akai decided NOT to include it in the original 1000 OS? Especially since (as JJ OS demonstrates) it was possible to do it.

Its a window for Akai to start charging for OS upgrades like Roland....

hah they'd have to actually MAKE an OS upgrade before they could charge for it

How do you actually know that Akai isn't behind the OS? You do know that it is illegal to sell the code/software that doesn't belong to you?

Do you know anything about intellectual property rights? You cannot take someones work and pass it off as your own or sell it.
