Aslinth.

Thats the way I do it. But, one thing is stupid, its just headphones out on the keyboard, NOT master out!! (Probably becuae it has it own speakers)
Wich is a problem when im makeing beats with headset, (to not wake anyone up), because i have to plug and un plug the cables out from the keyboard. Headphones and jack to phono.

And I also have to switch between a headset from my mpc and my keyboard.

Do you have any sollution on that? Check ouy Yamaha PSR-540. I still have my doubts, buy it or not.

aslinth,

You are Right, but when you do it that way, there is no click track in the headphones if you're monitoring that way, also you can't see where you are in the Sequence and for some people like me, my timing is off!
I think I have a solution.?
I'm going to buy a little mixer and route the audio of the MPC & Keyboard through the mixer. MIDI wil be routed through the MPC like you & I said minus the selecting of record MODE to monitor, the Mixer Phone Out is for that. No more swapping headphone from the 1K to Keys. Rec Midi notes from Keys into MPC MIDI track. Playback MIDI from MPC that trigger the keyboard sounds.Sample keyboard Audio into the 1k and that should doit.

Wow.

My english arent good enough, haha.

Would you be kind to explain that for me? :D
'caus, I got a mixer. A behringer UB-802, and its 2 sets of stereo in, and 2 sets with stereo out! Should that do it?

Remember. I got my mpc, the yamaha PSR-540 (where its JUST headset out, no master out), 2 midicables and the mixer. +My computer with a soundcard with midi in/out etc.

Could you explain what to do?

connect the stereo out of your mpc to one of the inputs of the mixers.
connect the headphone out to another input of your mixer.
connect the output of your mixer to the input of your soundcard.
that should do it.

connect the left or right output of mpc to mixer ch 1.
connect the left or right output of yamaha PSR-540 to mixer ch2.
connect headphone to mixer headphone jack.
now connect mixer left & right output to mpc inputs or to your soundcard for stereo.

You can also hook up left ch out of mixer to mpc, hook up right ch out to soundcard. record in cpu & mpc in mono. This way you can record in either one.

"yamaha PSR-540 (where its JUST headset out, no master out)"

Then the headset shall be your master out.

Your english is great ! 8)

Thanks!

I will take a look at it when I get home! It sounds like it finally will work out! Everything iss possible. (Even explain things like this in a language I dont write very good!, hehe)

First of all, you guys make my production muck easier! If I did'nt have this forum to ask questions at, I would be lost. Keep up the good work!

Well, back to the topic.
When I first got this keyboard, I really belived that I could set it up like this: MPC midi out -> to keyboard midi in, and keyboard midi out -> to MPC midi out.
Then just choose Midi on my MPC, and Program: OFF. And then find the right sound on my keyboard, press record at the MPC -> play the notes.
And to make it tight, use note timeing to hit the notes jsut at the right point!
DONE!

But no, no, no, NO  How could I be so stupid. Some of it, the first part, is just like I thougt - and not that hard to understand.

But then again, how can I save this stuff??
I have to go to record mode at my mpc, plug in a jack cable to headohones out at the yamaha. Then press play on my MPC, press record, and after that - trim etc. And you have to be very very exact when you after that put it into your beat again.
This is a part of the problem.. Not to big, but I feel that this is just extra work. I really did belive that I could record the notes through the midi cables, I was sure that my friend did it exactly that way.

It could be that this aint a big problem, but I find it really disturbing. What if I wanna change a little part of the melody from my keybaord. I have to find the rigth sound again, and record it once more. (?)

Are you with me? Next question is about timestretching, so just get updated! haha

Thanks. Abu

just sequence the keyboard parts and record both to your computer.

"How could I be so stupid."

Sorry dude but you are not stupid! Akai is!

"When I first got this keyboard, I really belived that I could set it up like this: MPC midi out -> to keyboard midi in, and keyboard midi out -> to MPC midi out.

Should be that way. It was or is that way on Ensoniq ASR-X !

I use too have a ASR-X and it give you a Monitor option menu.

example: 1.Mainout 2.Input 3.Input + mainout, just select one and off you go.

hopefully akai will add this in a future os upgrade.

You can rec MIDI notes through the midi cables.

"Next question is about timestretching?"

I use software for that! I use hardware to make loops then I upload everything in software world and paint a funky picture.

I believe that topic has been discussed before just search the forum for it!

Peace!

DJWeed,

Let me know if I'm misunderstanding you, but I while I agree the keyboard sounds won't be stored and played from the MIDI track on the MPC, the 1k can still do what Abu asked:
Use the keyboard to play a bassline, time correct the notes, and save the result on the MPC.

Although you can't hear the audio input from the keyboard immediately on the MPC, you can connect the output of the keyboard to the record ins of the 1k. Then press play on the MPC, enter record mode and monitor the incoming signal from the keyboard (which the MPC midi track is triggering). Record it, assign it to a pad, and playback in an actual track.

I know this works because I've tested it myself w/ my 1k.

this record mode, to recored while the mpc is triggering the keyboard line. is this option avialable on the classic 2000
if so where, on what screen exactly

I know what you mean Abu... You simply want to hook your keyboard up into the mpc, set the metronome, hit record on the MPC, and play basslines, melodies and whatever on your keyboard, using the keyboard's sound and record in into the MPC so that when you press play on the MPC to play that track you recorded, it will play that track using the same sound from the keyboard. Then to assign that to a pad and be able to tweak the sound, effects, tempa, etc from the MPC...

Right??

I had this problem when I had my Ensoniq ASR-X Pro years ago. I didn't have the patience, then, to look for a resolution. I would think, though, that you would have to have a multitrack mixer, or a digital recorder or something for this... I could be wrong, but maybe I'm right. Any respomse to this guys?

I don't own a 1000 yet, but will soon. I'm glad you posed this question, because the first thing I will want to do is to hook up my friend's Korg Triton to the MPC 1000 and record samples from the KB to the MPC just like you want to.

I sure hope you guys can figure this out.
